“Can we suck CO₂ out of thin air?” Pat Kenny Talks to Prof MacElroy on Newstalk about Direct Air Capture

Professor Don MacElroy, Director of Technology at NEG8 Carbon, spoke with Pat Kenny on Newstalk about how Direct Air Capture works and why carbon capture technology is urgently needed to remove the excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere that is already causing devastating climate change.

Prof MacElroy also addressed important questions around the viability of DAC technology and the concerns about its high energy usage. DAC technology is advancing at a rapid pace, with energy usage falling with each iteration, and Prof MacElroy stressed that for DAC to make a real difference, it is imperative that renewable energy be used to power the system.
